"Sometimes an event triggers an idea; as with the Empty Bowl Project, where potters are invited to donate soup bowls to be sold to raise funds for local food agencies. With my bowls, one shares their soup with a hungry person clinging to the rim. As the soup is finished even the dregs slip away from the person on the edge. I have made around a hundred of these bowls, finding meaning each time within this metaphor."

"The piece with the fingerprint pattern on the top is part of a series I did in contemplation of remembered contour-plowed fields seen from the air."
